Three-peat for Adcock and McKillop

Warwick Women's golf competitors Lyn McKillop and Marg Adcock were all smiles after their win in the 4BBB handicap match play championships on Sunday. Pictured here with event sponsor Michelle Wright of Michelle’s Wright-At-Home Hair Studio.

Marg Adcock and Lyn McKillop have secured their third win in a row the Warwick Women’s Golf 4BBB Handicap match play competition finalised over the weekend.

Saturday’s semi finals saw Mary Young and Helen Olsen secure their finals birth defeating Jill Barnes and Trish Bell on the 17th. Adcock and McKillop won their game against Jo McAntee and Kath Devereux on the 18th. Both games were close, and very well befitting of semi final rounds.

Sunday saw a bitter cold day for the finalists to take to the course, with their frozen gallery of onlookers. It was a long day, particularly with the weather as inclement as it was. Light showers made it uncomfortable at times for our players, but they took the game right to the 18th hole. With it getting later and colder, the gallery of onlookers were scared that the match was going to go back down the first hole if there was no winner after 18 holes. Congratulations to Adcock and McKillop on their eventual win two up after 18 holes. Once again it came down to McKillop managing to hole her ball out in a very pressurized putt. It was an exceptional game, with Young and Olsen playing well and definitely deserved their runner up title.

Thank you to Michelle Wright, from Michelle’s Wright-At-Home Hair studio for once again sponsoring this event.

On Wednesday 19 June the women played a single stroke event sponsored by the Little Gallery Cafe.

The remaining scores for the field ranged between 73 nett, and 86 nett. The pro pin was taken out by Donna Keogh, and shared with Mary Young, Jo McAntee, and Helen Olsen. Congratulations to all.

Thursday a contingent of ladies took to the course at City in Toowoomba, for their annual Women’s Open Day with Melanie McLennan winning the best nett in Division One with a fine 72 nett.

The team managed to bring home another 8 valuable points towards the open day pennants, giving the club 34 points in total for the year so far.
