The Bowls Queensland meeting on Wednesday accepted the proposal of replacing the 20 districts in Queensland with 10 zones. Under such a proposal the four districts in the local Zone would be reduced to two. This would benefit Southern Downs as the district would playoff with the Downs District. The savings in travelling and accommodation would be significant for the district. As it was pointed out to BQ years ago the district could reach Bundaberg in the time it took to reach Roma.

Other changes were also proposed. Members and office bearers of clubs in this district, before offering uninformed opinions, should remember that this district is obligated to follow the laws of World Bowls, Bowls Australia and Bowls Queensland in all events. The laws cover all events that move on to State, National and international finals. Failure to follow these laws will lead to disqualification.
