Drag racing action is back at Mt Morgan in Warwick with more than 135 entrants taking part in the round two of the Warwick Dragway Track Championship on 14 September and the track gearing up for even more action in coming weeks.

Committee member Matt Loy said with the first round of the Track Championships washed out after qualifying earlier this year drag racers had been keen to get back to the track after the winter break.

And were looking forward to a busy season of action.

“Our next event will be the VW Weekend 5-6 of October and our annual event, Warwick Dragfest is on 18 – 20 October the 1320 Motorsports Warwick Dragway when we will be expecting more than 200 cars and bikes.

“For this month’s event we had more than 135 entrants and nine classes were run and won. In all 500 spectators got to check out all the action.”

He said the club had received a lot of support from spectators, the local and racing communities.

“Massive thank you to our track volunteers, from the front gate, canteen, scrutineering shed, tower, staging lanes, track crew, top end crew, paramedics, fire crew, track photographers and to everybody behind the scenes.

“Also a massive thanks to all our Track Sponsors, Class Sponsors and thanks to all the competitors and crew for putting on a great show for all our loyal spectators and for supporting 1320 Motorsports Warwick Dragway.”

Loy said the club had keen to get back out onto their rebuilt facilities, opened earlier this year.
