STANTHORPE POLICE

A 38-YEAR-OLD courier driver who went Stanthorpe Police Station to report the theft of a quantity of prescription drugs from his courier van got more than he bargained for.
Investigating police conducted a search of his vehicle and located a quantity of prescription drugs. The driver was charged for illegal possession of the drugs.

IN a separate incident, when Stanthorpe police executed a search warrant in McGlew St last Wednesday they found 166 grams of dried cannabis and drug paraphernalia. The 49-year-old man in the house was charged with various drug offences.

HOLIDAY traffic enforcement in the Stanthorpe area also resulted in a 58-year-old man being charged with possessing dangerous drugs after his vehicle was intercepted driving on the New England Highway at Dalveen last Wednesday.

Vehicle seized
POLICE impounded a 43-year-old man’s vehicle after he was intercepted by officers last Wednesday in Wallangarra Road and found to be unlicensed.
His vehicle was impounded for 48 hours, however police said they will apply to the court in October for a further three months impoundment.

Safer break
EXTRA traffic enforcement appears to have had some effect with no road accidents being reported in the Stanthorpe Police Division over the past week.
Police encourage all drivers to continue to take all possible care so that the holiday period remains incident free.
Similarly, no trouble was experienced over the weekend in the vicinity of licensed premises.
