Kids and clay at club

PIC:
Children from 8 to 14 had an enjoyable and very creative time in the September School Holiday workshop at the Stanthorpe Pottery Club.

THE Stanthorpe Pottery Club opened its doors during the school holidays for a children’s workshop where members of the club give their time to little hands discovering or continuing to explore clay.
“Clay is a wonderful, tactile medium that many children have never experienced before,” said sculptor Yvonne Stalling.
“Its three dimensional nature forces them to think about structure, shapes and form and after the three days the children have completed pieces which they can proudly take home.”
The workshop experimented with a variety of building techniques while the children learned to think about their ideas and adapt to change along the way.“There is something very magical about children when they are thinking and working creatively,” Ms Stalling said.
The creative pieces from school holiday workshop will be on display as part of the pottery club’s exhibition in the clubhouse on the weekend of 23 and 24 November.
The community is invited to come and view both exhibitions.
