Sickies were porkies

FOUR meatworkers had their bacon well and truly cooked after granting themselves sickies using a stolen book of medical certificates.
One of the men stole a book Queensland Health medical certificates and in September and October they proceeded to issue themselves certificates for days off sick from the Warwick Bacon Factory.
Their employer noticed the activity and all four were sacked.
Search warrants were issued and four premises searched. The stolen book of medical certificates was found in one of the suspects’ cars.
Handwriting analysis did the rest.
Warwick CIB detectives then charged the men with forgery and uttering forged documents.
The four pleaded guilty when they appeared in Warwick Magistrates’ Court. They were fined and made to pay restitution to their employer, on top of losing their jobs.
