Fangs a lot for Careflight

IN A typical year RACQ CareFlight Rescue airlifts around five people suffering snake bites.
In just the past month six people been airlifted – a shocking start to snake season.
A two-year-old boy was airlifted from Sundown National Park near Texas after a suspected snake bite.
A second patient was flown from Warwick while other bite victims came from Tara, Chinchilla and Taroom.
Each has been evacuated to Toowoomba Base Hospital for lifesaving treatment.
RACQ Careflight advises that those who suspect they may have been bitten by a snake should look out for signs such as pain, nausea, numbness, tingling around the mouth and dizziness.
If bitten, the victim should move away from the snake and make sure the area is safe; stay as calm as possible and limit body movements to prevent the venom spreading.
They should also use a bandage or a shirt to compress the bite, wrapping it tightly from the bite area to the top of the affected limb. Call emergency services immediately.
