Give way rules

SOME drivers seem confused by road crossings that are designated as “shared zones”, such as those in Palmerin Street, Warwick..
While care and consideration is needed by both pedestrians and drivers, the law is quite clear – give way to pedestrians.
The Transport Operations (Road Use Management—Road Rules) Regulation 2009 is quite specific.
“A driver driving in a shared zone must give way to any pedestrian in the zone,” the regulation says.
The maximum penalty is 20 penalty units, or $2200.
