Green light for airport

AUSTRALIA’s peak aviation safety body has given Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport the green light for regular passenger transport (RPT).
In what is a major milestone for Australia’s newest airport in 50 years, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has approved Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport as a certified aerodrome.
Wagners chairman John Wagner said the CASA certification process had been a ‘work-in-progress’ for the past 18 months and included ensuring runway specifications and airport procedures and training manuals were compliant.
As part of the CASA certification, Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport will become a ‘secure’ airport on 10 November with the first official RPT Qantaslink flight scheduled for 17 November.
Regional Express (REX) also will service the airport from 1 January 2015.
