Fire set to burn out

A FIRE burning near Ballandean has been contained and is no longer a threat to property.
Stanthorpe Rural Brigades group officer Roni Bau said thousands of hectares have been burnt out since the blaze began on 27 October.
“It is contained and under control at the moment and is burning internally,” he said.
“It will just puff away at its own speed – all fire crews have been stood down but there will be smoke about for another couple of weeks.”
Girraween National Park was re-opened earlier this week.
Mr Bau thanked local and nearby fire crews for their efforts and local businesses that donated food.
