MELBOURNE Cup Day punters were out in force across the district on Tuesday with many watering holes putting on luncheons to celebrate the race that stops the nation.
In lieu of a formal race meet in town, dozens of Warwick locals donned a hairpiece or tie and flocked to the RSL and Horse and Jockey Hotel to watch Australia’s major thoroughbred horse race.
German stallion Protectionist won the $6.2 million Cup by several body lengths in front of Red Cadeaux and Who Shot The Barman, who placed third.
