Sun shines on sewerage

TENTERFIELD Shire Council has completed the installation of its third solar energy project.
Tenterfield Sewerage Treatment Plant is the latest building to be equipped with solar panels, following similar installations at the Tenterfield and Urbenville water treatment plants.
The council targeted the facilities because they were three of the highest energy use buildings in the shire.
The 45kW system cost $56,000 with a three year payback based on current consumption and electricity price trends.
“Apart from the obvious savings to the community after the first three years, council is delighted to be leading by example and reducing our carbon emissions,“ Mayor Peter Petty said.
