Boy approached
MEMBERS of the community are asked to be vigilant in and around schools after a young boy was allegedly approached by an elderly man on Thursday morning on Granite Belt Drive,Thulimbah. The man asked the child a number of times to get into his vehicle for a lift but left the scene when the child refused. The man is described as 60-70 years, short grey hair, balding on top, unshaven appearance and driving a faded grey four door sedan, unknown make. Anyone sighting a similar vehicle/person is asked to immediately contact StanthorpePolice or Crimestoppers.

Creme of the crop
POLICE conducted Operation North Creme last Wednesday and Thursday, targeting drug offences in the Stanthorpe and Wallangarra areas. Search warrants at Border Street, Happy Valley Road, Rockwell Street and Raleigh Streets, Wallangarra resulted in the location of cannabis, amphetamines, smoking utensils and drug paraphernalia. Inquiries are being conducted by Wallangarra Police and it is expected a number of people will be charged incoming days with various drug-related offences. A search warrant in Manning Street, Stanthorpe also located cannabis and utensils resulting in the 32-year-old male occupant being charged.

Police swoop on pair
POLICE swooped on a local Stanthorpe hotel after information was received regarding two persons wanted on warrants and other offences residing at that location. A male, 45 years of ageand his female companion, 38, were taken into custody and charged with an outstanding offence of unlawfully using a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs and a number of outstanding failure to appear warrants. Police attended an address in Wolfram Street, Stanthorpe where they arrested a 24-year-old man for breach of bail and a return to prison warrant.
The following morning while being walked to court in Warwick, the male escaped lawful custody, albeit for a very short time. After being detained by police at a local shopping centre he appeared in court and was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for his actions.

Duo detained
TWO men were detained after a search warrant was executed on premises in Roberts Road, Stanthorpe. Items located included a large quantity of suspected amphetamines, cannabis, utensils and a stolen laptop computer. One male, 27, was charged with possessing cannabis, possessing amphetamines, possessing a thing used in connection with dangerous drugs and two breaches of bail. The second male, 18 yrs of age, was charged with PossessingCannabis, Possessing amphetamines, Possessing drug utensils and Stealing. Both men wereheld in custody. A search warrant a short time later in College Road located cannabis andsmoking utensils and resulted in a 42 yr old man receiving drug diversion.

Disturbance
ON SUNDAY evening police responded to calls of a disturbance in Maryland Street. Upon arrival they found a number of men trying to restrain an intoxicated man. A 26-year-old man will face court charged with committing a public nuisance offence.
