Federal seat gets Warwick candidate

Who will replace Bruce Scott?

By DANE LILLINGSTONE

FIVE candidates will battle it out to replace Bruce Scott as the LNP member for the seat of Maranoa.
Warwick local David Littleproud will fly the flag for the Southern Downs in his pursuit to represent the LNP at the next Federal Election.
Mr Littleproud is the current Suncorp Regional Banking Manager and former Chamber of Commerce president.
He will be up against Roma-based Maranoa councillor Cameron O’Neil, regional banking manager Lachlan Douglas, Blackall grazier Alison Krieg and Charleville grazier Rick Gurnett.
The LNP announced that, much like the forthcoming Southern Downs election, voting will be done by post.
“Given the size of the Maranoa electorate, LNP members will vote via a postal plebiscite to choose the new LNP candidate. As preselections are a matter for LNP members, neither the candidates nor the party are able to make any public comment until the process has concluded,” a statement said.
The ballot will close on 22 October and the new candidate will be announced on 23 October.
