CHRISTMAS may not be for months but it pays to be prepared and the Southern Downs Regional Council is calling on all performers keen to be involved in this year’s Carols in the Park event in Warwick, to throw their hat in the ring.
Southern Downs Regional Council mayor Tracy Dobie said following the success of last year’s carols event, planning was already underway to attract performers for this year.
“There were a range of fabulous performers that graced the stage and wowed the crowd at the 2015 Carols and we know there is a vast pool of very talented performers across all genres throughout the Southern Downs region,” Cr Dobie.
“We want to be able to connect with these performers and give them an opportunity to showcase their talents through an audition process.
“Initially, the council is calling for expressions of interest and I would encourage local performers to get on board and be part of this exciting process.”
Expressions of interest are invited from a range of performers who can offer Christmas themed acts in the following genres: dance, story telling/poetry, instrumental, solo vocal, duet, choir, band, group, school, and other types of acts.
Anyone interested in performing at this year’s Warwick Carols in the Park event will need to complete the Warwick 2016 Carols in the Park Expression of Interest form, which can be downloaded from the council’s website www.sdrc.qld.gov.au
Applications will be shortlisted for auditions to be held at the Warwick Town Hall at a date to be advised.
For further information or assistance with the form, please contact the council’s events support officer Laurine King on 1300 MY SDRC (1300 697 372) or email laurine.king@sdrc.qld.gov.au. Completed forms should be returned by email to the Laurine King or dropped into the council’s community contact centres by 5pm, Friday 13 May.
