Fond memories in ribbon and lace

URBENVILLE Multipurpose Service was transformed by ribbon and lace recently when residents, the residents’ families and staff held a wedding dress display.
Urbenville executive officer/director of nursing Nancy Martin said the idea for the wedding dress display arose from a number of residents reminiscing about their own wedding days.
“The discussion progressed to the idea of a wedding dress display and it was wonderful to see such support from the community, and the residents at the Urbenville Health Service,” Ms Martin said.
“The day included a display of wedding photos, a display of gowns and a parade of wedding dresses modelled by local school students.
“I would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all those in the community who loaned dresses, photos, and items to be displayed. It was wonderful to look back in time right through to current day.”
Ms Martin thanked activities officer Kathy Goldthorpe for her tireless effort in organising the day, Ann Varley for compering, Jolene Ward from Enchanted Florist for the flowers, the management and staff at the hospital, all the community members who helped on the day, and the staff from Woodenbong Central School, who made the day run smoothly.
“The residents had a lovely day and very much enjoyed seeing their dresses back in the limelight,” Ms Martin said.
