Handy cash to complete studies

WHAT if there was an easier way to achieve education and career goals?
Southern Downs current and prospective students are encouraged to apply for a $5000 TAFE Queensland scholarship to start studying in Semester two, 2016.
The scholarship payments can be used to meet any cost associated with study including tuition, much-needed study material and equipment, or even to reduce the cost of living expenses.
More than 80 students have already benefited from the $500,000 scholarship program with almost 40 per cent of round two scholarships going to school leavers. Scholarships will be offered to study at TAFE Queensland qualifications from Certificate III to Advanced Diploma level.
There will be six scholarships offered in mid-2016 and offers will be made to students coming from all parts of Queensland and studying at different TAFE Queensland locations.
The scholarships are awarded to students who are committed to studying qualifications in specific industries including business services, automotive, health services, community services, hospitality, tourism, and more.
TAFE Queensland South West general manager Brent Kinnane said the scholarships program would allow people to study who might not have had opportunities previously, or have struggled to gain a qualification.
“These scholarships provide a way for us to educate and train more people than ever before, and get them into industry with in-demand skills and qualifications,” Mr Kinnane said.
“Not only that, they will provide opportunities for those who are looking for an alternative path to university, want to upskill to get that promotion, or simply want to make change happen in their career.”
“TAFE Queensland gives people the practical skills to do extraordinary things, and there’s never been a better time to train with us.”
TAFE Queensland CEO Jodi Schmidt said the scholarships were already helping more than 80 Queenslanders to pursue their career goals by providing some added financial support so they can focus on their studies.
“We want our students to be able to maximise their time at TAFE Queensland learning the skills and gaining the knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen field,” Ms Schmidt said.
“These scholarships allow students to do just that by helping them meet costs associated with study including course fees, books and study materials, or to reduce cost of living expenses.”
Applications for Semester two, 2016 TAFE Queensland scholarships close on Sunday 15 May 2016. For more information or to apply, visit www.scholarships.tafeqld.edu.au.
