New Catholic principal happy to be in Warwick

Story: Rebecca Brown

Michelle Campbell is ecstatic with her new role as principal of St Mary’s Primary School in Warwick.
Mrs Campbell felt like she had moved ‘home’ for a number of reasons; her mother started her school life at St Mary’s, her husband Peter’s family comes from Warwick and she loves working in rural Queensland schools.
With the exception of her previous job as principal of a similar size school in St Anthony’s Primary School in Kingscliff, she has worked in Queensland.
Mrs Campbell held this position for nine years.
“We wanted to come back to Queensland. I’ve taught in rural Queensland schools all my life. This is my 10th school in just under 30 years of teaching,” she said.
Mrs Campbell has worked in Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Biloela and Mackay to name a few.
“We’re very happy and excited to be in Warwick and at St Mary’s. It is a wonderful school with an excellent reputation.
“I’m very interested in infant literacy, technology and athletics. I’m looking forward to continuing the school excellence in these areas.” She hoped to continue the quality Catholic education at the school.
“I want it to be a faith-filled, joyous environment. I want the children and parents to be happy and have a loving environment. I also want to continue the strong links with the parish and the Warwick wider community.”
There are two other new faces on the staff at St Mary’s: Grade 3 teacher Kerry Norton and part-time teacher Michele Smith.
