First teaching gig for Jessica

Jessica Faulkner is thrilled to start her teaching career at Warwick West State School.
Miss Faulkner, from Toowoomba, was impressed with the inclusivity that’s present at the school.
“Everyone is made to feel welcome and differences and uniqueness are embraced,” she said.
Both her parents were teachers and her enjoyment from working with children cemented her desire to teach.
“I’m very lucky to get a job; I know a lot of first year teachers that didn’t get a job,” Miss Faulkner said.
“I think it’s because it’s an ageing staff. To get a job, we have to wait for a person to retire. I worked very hard and definitely am very grateful,” she said.
“You do really have the opportunity to change children’s lives. There are a lot of very experienced teachers here and I hope to be inspired by them.
“I want someone in my teaching career to come back and say I made a difference,” Miss Faulkner said.
