New public toilets in the Southern Downs

People heading out and enjoying Southern Downs’ great outdoors will now be able to use three brand new toilet facilities at Kidspace Park, Leslie Park and Browns Falls.
All three facilities now boast new water saving toilets and hand basins, wheelchair access for people with disabilities, and security lighting.
At the environmentally sensitive Browns Falls, near Killarney, the toilet block was also relocated after public consultation and the colours of the building designed to blend in with the surrounds.
In Leslie Park, Warwick, the new toilets are designed in line with the new Leslie Park Master Plan.
They have been placed within close proximity to the main playground and also within sight of the police station, to help deter vandalism and loitering.
The addition of  a  disabled  toilet  in
the Leslie Park facility provides increased services for families who may use the proposed new Liberty Swing; and for the nearby Warwick State High
School with its group of special needs students.
In Kidspace Park, located on Quart Pot Creek parkland, Stanthorpe, the new toilet block provides amenities for families and the community using the nearby playground and park facilities.
Both Leslie Park and Kidspace Park toilets now include sharps containers.
All the toilets meet the council’s Crime Prevention Through Engineering and Design standards.
The toilets cost a total of $330,000, of which $99,000 was funded by Department of Infrastructure and Planning grants.
