It’s A Case of Art in the Mill

Opening night at “the Mill” attracted 186 enthusiastic locals and visitors who, in the mellow atmosphere of the historic timber and case mill, viewed the diverse artworks.
A spokesperson for “Art in the Mill” commented that numbers were slightly down on opening night, maybe this was due to a certain wedding.
Guests sipped mulled wine and nibbled on gourmet finger food, while admiring and purchasing artworks. Others socialised with the artists around the drum fire.
The local community responded very favourably to the art show and their appreciation and tastes have broadened over the past 11 years.
Bold new works from guest artists Ben Moxham, and Laurie Astill, impressed the viewers as did the smaller, more delicate works by Nola Sindell and Eva Rasmussen.
The contemporary clay vessels of Bent Rasmussen contrasted with the rustic surroundings while Albert Verschuuren’s wood fired pots with earthy ash glazes looked right at home on the wooden block plinths.
Perfect sunny autumn weather brought the crowds over the weekend.
Many visitors  plan their holidays to coincide with the May long weekend, “Art in the Mill” and “Opera in the Vineyard”.
