School leaders get behind the scenes of Parliament

High school leaders recently joined the Member for Northern Tablelands Richard Torbay at NSW Parliament House for a look behind the scenes at Australia’s first Parliament.
Students from schools in Armidale, Bingara, Guyra, Inverell, Tenterfield, Uralla and Walcha visited Parliament House recently as part of their leadership role in their school communities.
The students attended a reception and morning tea in the historic Jubilee Room with Mr Torbay.
Afterwards, they  toured Parliament House and spent some time in the Public Gallery of the Upper House.
“Meeting the local student leaders is always a very enjoyable experience,” Mr Torbay said.
“I particularly look forward to hearing the students’ impressions of Parliament.
“I commend the schools involved for embracing this program and providing this experience to their student leaders,” he said.
“It would be marvellous if this visit in some way inspired some of these student leaders to establish a career in politics and consider representing their own communities in government.”
