Work at Cunningham’s Gap progressing

Work at Cunningham’s Gap as part of the major $40 million reconstruction is progressing well, with work finishing up at one site recently.
Three of the 11 pavement reconstruction sites are now complete.
Five remaining sites are underway, with work at Six Penny Gully and National Trail set to start later in October.
Design and environmental approvals for the realignment of the road at Clayton’s Gully are progressing. Work at this site is expected to start in late 2011.
All of the sites currently underway are on track to be completed later this year.
The Cunningham Highway remains under stop/go traffic conditions from the top of the Gap to Fig Tree Gully.
Motorists can expect delays when travelling through the Gap. The department appreciates your patience while these essential safety works are carried out. To subscribe to receive SMS updates, visit www.cunninghamhighwaysms.com.au/
Restrictions are still in place on vehicles over 3.5m wide and/or over 26m long between the helipad and the Gap. These vehicles are encouraged to take alternate routes. Please call 13 19 40 for updates.
