Wind farm enquiries continue to power in

TransGrid continues to receive enquiries for Wind Farm proposals in Northern NSW, which are seeking connection to the NSW transmission network.
Executive general manager of Network Planning and Performance, Stephen Clark, said TransGrid continues to receive a steady stream of enquiries regarding potential wind farms.
“TransGrid has an ongoing commitment to facilitate the connection of new generators into the national electricity market through the NSW transmission grid,” Mr Clark said.
“From the enquiries TransGrid has received, Northern NSW has the potential to supply an additional 1200 megawatts of wind generation into the national electricity market in the future,” he said.
“This amount is equivalent to the amount of electricity used by around 870,000 average homes annually.
“The energy industry is undergoing a period of significant change and transmission networks will be a key facilitator in the shift to lower emission and renewable energy generation sources.”
TransGrid connects more than 4000 megawatts of renewable energy in NSW and is progressing applications to connect additional renewable generation to its network.
“Transmission networks are an efficient and secure platform to connect new forms of generation and TransGrid is in a unique position to help facilitate a more competitive and efficient national electricity market,” Mr Clark said.
