Tenterfield council more supportive than other LGAs: Wilshire

Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service Tenterfield Branch president and fundraising coordinator, Tony Wilshire, paid tribute recently to the Tenterfield Shire Council for its continued support of this essential service.
Mr Wilshire presented Mayor Toby Smith with a plaque in appreciation of the council’s support of the helicopter service for 2011.
“Out of all the LGAs (local government areas) in the area, Tenterfield Shire shines the highest for their continued support for many years,” Mr Wilshire said.
Towns like Lismore, Texas, Glen Innes and Grafton are included in this region.
The Tenterfield Shire Council’s recent donation of $2000 will go towards the costs of an online software application, which will enable the helicopter service to enhance its safety compliance and efficiency of its personnel and operational environment.
“This system will give us the ability to control our core operational information, which will better assist us to maintain our regulatory compliances,” Mr Wilshire said.
“With the council’s support in establishing this system, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service will be able to save valuable time and administration costs by implementing this new system,” he said.
Cr Smith was grateful for the work that “this wonderful organisation” did for the community.
“On behalf of the council and the community, I would like to pay tribute to the work Mr Wilshire and the committee do on behalf of the Westpac Helicopter Service,” he said.
