Southern Downs Regional Council has completed several shade structures to provide sun protection for people using the skate parks in Warwick and Stanthorpe.
Installation of the cantilever metal shade structures was completed last week, at a total cost of $75,000 for the two parks.
Mayor Ron Bellingham said outdoor activity was extremely important to people in the region and these skate parks provide a healthy outlet for young people interested in skating, scooters, BMX bikes and rollerblading.
“These shade structures provide important sun protection for the people using these facilities,” Cr Bellingham said.
“This is yet another step toward improving and updating the public spaces in the Southern Downs used regularly by children and their families.”
