In the pipeline

A new 1.2 kilometre sewerage pipeline to Rosenthal Heights from Lyndhurst Lane to Parker Road in Warwick will soon be completed.
Southern Downs Regional Council is building the new pipeline to connect the Rosenthal Heights Common Effluent Disposal (CED) scheme to the sewerage system and it will enable the CED scheme to be augmented to become a sewerage system.
Mayor Ron Bellingham said the $500,000 infrastructure upgrade was important to provide avenues for future growth.
“It is part of Council’s ongoing program to upgrade and add new water and sewerage infrastructure for the benefit of the community,” said Cr Bellingham said.
“Our water and sewerage staff are completing this massive project without involving any external contractors.”
The project started in January this year and is due for completion by the end of April.
This challenging engineering project included construction of a new pump house and will take nearly 3000 man hours to complete. Massive sand-stone and granite layers needed to be excavated to achieve the proper slope gradient for this gravity sewer which collects effluent from household septic tanks and transfers it to the lagoons located near Lyndhurst Lane.
