New candidate meet and greet

Due to popular demand, a second ‘Meet The New Councillor Candidates’ event has been organised for Saturday from 2pm to 4.30pm at Warwick Town Hall.
Southern Downs Business Group spokesperson Sue Gordon said the Southern Downs Regional Council election candidate forums in Stanthorpe and Warwick last week were enjoyable, however, more information on candidates were needed.
“There are over 30 business entities across the region keen to see some fresh faces on the council so we need another forum,” Mrs Gordon said.
“As the choice of 22 candidates was overwhelming, many people have contacted us keen for more,” she said.
“In particular, the public want the chance for new candidates to present themselves and many want to ask questions from the floor.
“So the Warwick Town Hall is booked and I publicly invite all the new candidates to email me at gordoncountry10@yahoo.com.au by 12 noon Friday, April 13, to reserve a space of five minutes to address the community on their background, reasons for standing and aims for the next council.
“The order of speakers shall be picked at random followed by questions.
“The fact that there are 16 new candidates indicates the level of interest in effective representation on the next council,” Mrs Gordon said.
She expects large numbers of people to be present at the second forum.
For further details, contact Sue Gordon on (07) 4666 6179.
