The Southern Downs Regional Council undertook the removal of the dangerous London Plane trees in Guy Street, Warwick, last week.
The trees were removed after an independent arborist found them to be diseased, with rotten cores and, as such, presented a danger to the public.
“It is unfortunate that these trees had to be removed, but public safety has to come first,” said Michael Bell, manager parks and projects.
“A recent health check found that seven trees between Grafton and Fitzroy Streets were in such ill health that they were in danger of falling, or dropping large limbs,” Mr Bell said.
“They were beyond any treatment and needed to be removed,” he said.
