CRG criteria now being developed

Facilitator John Dengate of Twyfords is now drafting the recruitment criteria for the Community Reference Group (CRG) following last week’s meeting on the proposed Warwick to Stanthorpe powerline project.
Attendees at the Process Design Group Workshop held in Warwick on Tuesday, May 15, discussed the characteristics needed for Community Reference Group members. These included a good knowledge of issues; constructive attitude; freedom of speech; listening skills; co-operation; logic; communication; forward thinking; clear boundaries; and openness.
At the meeting, it was said that community consultation was needed to make sure the community was inclusive in the decision-making process, and issues like health and wildlife security (flora and fauna) were properly explored.
A debate was held on who should be selected to be a group member and what percentage of members should be people on line routes and what percentage should be outsiders. To be fair, it was said that not all members should be emotionally involved; those people that could be directly affected by the powerline.
Questions like how will the decision criteria be developed, how will decisions be made and how would Ergon be involved were workshopped at the meeting.
Keep an eye out in the Southern Free Times as updates become available.
