Murder?

Police now suspect that missing Warwick woman Gail Lynch may have been murdered.
Ms Lynch was last seen on Tuesday, July 3, at a residence on Guy Street in Warwick.
Ms Lynch spoke to a family member on the evening of July 3, but has not made contact or been seen since. Police are now calling for information regarding the whereabouts of her boyfriend Ian Hannaford.
Detective Inspector Darrin Shadlow confirmed at a press conference on Friday that the investigation had progressed to the point police were now conducting a suspected homicide investigation in regards to the disappearance of Gail Lynch.
“We are seeking information from members of the public regarding the whereabouts of Ian Hannaford. We do believe he can assist us further in our investigations.”
Det Insp Shadlow confirmed that police had been unable to contact Mr Hannaford, and that he had not returned to his residence since speaking to police on Wednesday, July 11.
“We have been unable to speak to Mr Hannford since last week, so we are seeking information about his whereabouts to speak further with him.
“To our knowledge, Mr Hannaford doesn’t have a motor vehicle, as we still have his motor vehicle that we seized from him last week, so his mode of transport is unknown.
“We have spoken to a number of people in relation to his whereabouts but so far he has not been located.
“If anyone does know about his whereabouts they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000 or contact Warwick Police.”
Police are still seeking information regarding a missing rug and in relation to a 2004 model V8 blue Ford Falcon sedan.
“We ask that if anyone saw that motor vehicle between the Warwick or Toowoomba areas between 6pm on Tuesday, July 3 to all day July 4 to get in touch,” Det Insp Shadlow said.
“Not necessarily on the main roads, it could be the back roads, the Allora area for example. Basically from Warwick through to Toowoomba, we’d like to speak to anyone who has seen that motor vehicle.”
The missing carpet rug is described as being about 3m x 2m and is red in colour, with a gold patterned border.
“That red rug is missing from the unit. The significance that plays we are yet to further determine, but do believe it is missing from the unit, it was there some days prior and we know that for a fact,” Det Insp Shadlow said.
Police divers continue to search the Warwick area with the water police and police divers are continuing their search of the Condamine River.
Forensic testing from samples taken at Ms Lynch’s unit, the seized vehicle and from Mr Hannaford have helped investigations, with further results still to come. Det Insp Shadlow said police believed something did happen in Ms Lynch’s unit on July 3 but were unwilling to speculate exactly what had occured.
