The SCOTS PGC College Junior School, Prep to Year 4 students, presented “A Nice Walk in the Jungle”, a musical romp with George of the Jungle, Ursula and her friends, a miffed Tigress and a pop idol Tiger on Thursday night at the Warwick Town Hall.
It’s Nature Study day and Miss Jellaby and her class take a walk through a most extraordinary jungle teeming with an assortment of animals. Her students are gradually disappearing, due to a sneaky boa constrictor that follows their progress and swallows students one by one.
However, Miss Jellaby is a nature lover and doesn’t have any idea that her class is diminishing rapidly.
Add to the mix a friendly ape and a confused George who is constantly bumping into trees. Tiger loses his groove and has to visit the witchdoctor and learn to charm his way back into Tigress’ good books. Obviously, there is a happy ending and Miss Jellaby retrieves her class unscathed.
Acting Head of Junior School, Mrs Lou Keevers said, “The musical is a biennial event and is a wonderful example of collaboration between staff, students and parents of our school community.”
The musical was written by Mrs Keevers and all 115 children of the Junior School were involved in some way. Highlights from the musical included a dance troupe from each class, wonderful renditions of popular songs by the children of the Junior School and a surprise flash mob scene in the jungle.
