Solar tariff fears

THE Greens are urging the State Government not to penalise residents who have invested in solar electricity generation in its Solar Bonus Scheme review due this week.
The solar feed-in tariff was decreased to 8c from 44c per kWh in 2012 and it will not be available at all after 1 July, 2014.
At 8c it is same price as the wholesale price for electricity in Queensland and lowering it further would be both inequitable and against market sense.
The Queensland Competition Authority has also flagged the possibility that PV solar providers who receive 44c, having signed up before 9 July 2012, will be charged an extra network charge.
