Stanthorpe to host quilt show

St Joseph’s Parish Centre in High Street, Stanthorpe, will be transformed into a visual feast by the Quart Pot Quilters on Saturday.
As well as quilts, viewers are likely to see dolls, bears, embroidery, bags, cushions, wall hangings and clothing.
Works completed over the past two years by talented local crafters will be featured.
Quilting and other fabric crafts continue to be chosen as a way to express creativity and create objects of beauty and usefulness.
Some crafters choose to work in muted ‘country’ colours, while others love a bright palette.
All quilters enjoy the fun, friendship and encouragement to be found in being a part of the crafting community.
The show runs from 10am to 4pm and the $5 entry fee will include a home cooked morning or afternoon tea.
Stanthorpe Blue Care is the charity chosen to benefit from the day.
There will be a quilt raffle at the show, which is the result of a friendship group where local quilters each chose a block, donating an extra block to be made into a quilt.
The quilt was then put together by the group, resulting in a beautiful, bright quilt. Tickets in the raffle quilt will be on sale for $1.
Visitors are invited to participate in a ‘viewers’ choice’ and vote for their favourite quilt.
Allan Smith, from Brother sewing machines, will be at the show with some of the latest sewing and embroidery machines.
He will be available to demonstrate the features of the machines.
The quilt show coincides with Gardenfest, in the Stanthorpe Civic Centre, making a trip to Stanthorpe well worth a drive this Saturday.
