Permanent exhibition for museum

Stanthorpe Museum curator, Lorene Long, paid tribute to the Queensland Country Credit Union for using local funds to support projects in the local community.
The museum was successful in obtaining a $3500 grant to mount a permanent exhibition called ‘Sportsmen of Note’.
The display will feature some of the many sports interests of the locals in the district in a purpose built display area situated in the front room of the museum’s newest building, ‘Heath House’.
Mal Perry, international squash champion, was a local who amassed many trophies in a variety of sporting pursuits.
His wife, Lesley Perry, is flying in especially from Perth to open the display at a 5.30pm soirée tomorrow.
This will be the inaugural permanent display opening for ‘Heath House’ which will also eventually house a dedicated display area depicting the soldier settler history of the Granite Belt.
Work on these displays has consumed the energies of all the museum volunteers over the last year and they now look forward to their completion and the opening of this carefully restored 1940s building.
Those wishing to attend can secure a place at the cocktail party for just $15. Bookings are essential, so please ring
(07) 4681 0805 today.
