Killarney celebrates 100 great shows!

The Governor General, Quentin Bryce, will officially open the Warwick Credit Union 100th Annual Killarney Show on Saturday.
The party began last Saturday with the aptly named Celebrations ball, which celebrated 100 years of music, dance and costume; with music by the Memphis Moovers performing all the great songs from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and beyond. Guests were invited to come as their favourite decade or era or person from any era or decade.
Then the show weekend, tomorrow to Sunday, will feature special displays being created for the 100th show by the Killarney Pony Club, Yangan’s Mick Bradford and the Killarney Historical Society.
The Killarney Co-op Heritage Trail invites families to visit various displays and events collecting a stamp from each. Completed entries go into the lucky draw on Saturday night for a $500 Killarney Co-op voucher.
The Friday Night Rodeo and the Woodchop return this year along with all of the crowd favourites – Smash Up Derby, Fireworks, Street Parade, Entertainment Marquee, Pavilion, Prime Cattle, Side Show Alley, Puppet Show and Reptile Show plus much, much more.
A Tractor Pull and Hay Carting Races will also add to the fun!
A Ukulele Band and Marimba Band are two new additions to Saturday’s Entertainment Stage program, which also includes folk, popular ballads, country music, country rock, dance hall music, sing-along oldies, gypsy and jazz.
The line up features Kerry Sinclair and John Cosgrove, Rod and Judy Petersen, Aperitif with Teri Welles, Mike Woolett, Peter Dobe, Julie Whitney, Maggie Stokes and Paul Donovan.
The newly renamed Killarney School of Dance, now KSD Performing Arts Academy, will be performing at 11am and the Rose City Shoppingworld Fashion Parade featuring RM Williams, Noni B, Crossroads, Jeans West, Millers and Rockmans will be at 3.30pm.
Schedules are available online from killarneyshow.org.au, qcas.net.au, killarneyvet.com.au or in person from around Killarney – Post Office, Credit Union, Co Op and Vet Surgery.
