Classic revisited in musical

Year 7 students Callum Fisher (Mole), Alisha Jenkin (Badger) and Ellie Douglas (Rat) in a scene from the Primary School Musical ‘The Wind in the Willows’.

The Vijayadev Yogendra Auditorium at the School of Total Education will resemble a riverside landscape during a musical production of Wind in the Willows by the primary school students.
English author, Kenneth Grahame’s Wind In The Willows is about the adventures of a group of river animals. Three good friends – Ratty, Mole and Badger do all they can to save the larger-than-life, vain and completely self-absorbed Toad from himself. In the end, they find that there is nothing they can do to change the irascible Toad.
This delightful and lively tale has been brought to musical life under the guidance of Michael Funder, Sophia Lightfoot and the other primary teachers at the School of Total Education.
“The primary children have been rehearsing since the beginning of this term to polish their performances,” Mr Funder said.
“Parents have pooled their creative talents and produced wonderful costumes that will light up the stage!”
Mrs Lightfoot, who is also a dance teacher, says that the children are loving working in the new auditorium.
“The stage is ideal for musicals, with plenty of space and state of the art sound and lighting. They are having a lot of fun and growing in confidence through the discipline of performing,” she said
There are two evening performances this weekend on Friday and Saturday at  7.30pm.  Tickets are available through the school at 2 Freestone Road, Warwick, telephone
4661 2666.
