Are you a corridor carer?

Pack a picnic lunch, a fold up chair, a hat and a waterbottle and join us on a bus trip to learn more about the local biodiversity located in the Allora District on October 4.
The bus will leave Allora at 9am before heading to a local property at Hendon.  This property has been managed to improve biodiversity values for the past 20 years and is home to many unique native species. After a leisurely stroll across the property, the bus will travel through the Corridor, with stops along the way and finishes with a walk at the Goomburra Lookout. The bus will return to Allora by 2.30pm.
Landcare Coordinator, Catherine Potter is excited about this new initiative.
“Corridor Carers aims to raise awareness of local biodiversity and support properties, both with information and actual funds, to provide habitat for native wildlife” she said.
Although much of the identified corridor contains high quality cropping country, many arable properties contain un-productive areas suitable for the ease re-establishment of native vegetation e.g. by encouraging natural regeneration or undertaking tree planting programs, such as historically-cleared riparian zones.
“If restored, these areas would provide critical links for biodiversity conservation across this highly modified landscape” she added.
