Hidden artistic talents to be shared with community

It is not at all surprising that Warwick Art Gallery members, volunteers and staff use their free time to dabble in art and craft-making of their own.
The Gallery’s constantly changing program of local artist and travelling exhibitions provides boundless inspiration.
“When I get home from the gallery, my mind is full of ideas,” says gallery volunteer Sue Marshman.
“I just enjoy the process of seeing how my work develops with all the inspiration around me”.
To showcase the hidden artistic talents of its community, Warwick Art Gallery has invited members and volunteers to come together for a special once a year artists’ market.
This year’s display will be held on Thursday, December 6, starting at 12 noon. The display will continue until 6pm so that families with school aged children and people who work can also view the display.
“This is the third time we have held this special market,” said Gallery Director Karina Devine.
“It is such a fantastic opportunity to see the unique talents of our volunteers and gallery members.”
Some of the artists participating this year include Sue Marshman with her gorgeous Amigurumi toys and Loretta Grayson with her charming handmade journals.
“This is one of the ways that the gallery can support and nurture our local artists and I would like to encourage anyone in the community with a hidden artistic talent to ring the gallery,” says Ms Devine.
“The day is as much about networking and meeting other artists as it is about sharing and selling your work.”
The event will take place on Thursday, December 6, from noon to 6pm in the garden outside Warwick Art Gallery. Phone (07) 4661 0434 for more information.
