I just bought a new knife belt and a pair of jeans by mail order from R M Williams. While I can’t accuse the sales lady of telling me they were both Australian made, I can say she didn’t correct my repeated assumption that that was the case.
When they arrived here, I found that while the knife belt was indeed made here, the jeans were made in Fiji. That means they were produced in a factory, owned and operated by foreigners, almost exclusively employing Indian labor imported into the country because the factory owners reckon they’ll work harder than the Fijian people.
I don’t want their foreign goods! I want what R M Williams made his reputation on; high quality Australian made goods!
Poor old R M must be rolling over in his grave to see what these people have done to his company. I know I’ve brought the last goods I’ll ever buy from R M Williams! And I’ve got plenty. I didn’t buy much else!
