Locked gates not working

The Council’s idea of locking the gates to the dumpster bins isn’t working. It was predicted that their decision would not curtail illegal dumping.
The dumpster sites have been in operation for decades and although there are a few grubs that don’t do the right thing; most people do.
Recently, the IN gate at the Glen Aplin site was left open and the lock for the gate was missing. Someone must have decided to vandalise the lock as a form of protest. Perhaps they came there with an issued key and it didn’t work in the lock. I tried my key in the exit gate lock and it wouldn’t open the lock. I guess I must have been issued with the wrong key. Humans do have their failings, even council workers.
It is obvious that locking the gates and issuing keys is not going to work and the council knew that from the beginning.
Because of the non-cooperation of residents and leaving the sites in a deplorable condition will be the last straw for council. They will use the excuse of continuing illegal dumping and leaving the sites in a mess to close the sites altogether. That was the objective all along.
The plan is to centralise all rubbish at the town’s main landfill site and a re-cycling initiative is the real plan of the State government.
The new slate of councillors after the elections in March will follow the dictates of Premier Anna.
Jay Nauss,
Glen Aplin
