Salvation through Christ

I believe that Frank Brown has put the cart before the horse in his letter on ‘religious irrelevance’, February 9. It would be better if he put the other half of his brain into gear and had a look at the full picture. Original inherited sin, which is in all mankind, is what has polluted the world and manifests itself in evil religions, corrupted forms of Christianity and also in the blind atheism of Mr Brown himself.
The root problem of sin has to be addressed. Salvation through redemption is what is needed. Mankind has sinned against his creator, who is the Lord God Almighty, and death and hell are the consequences.
Personally, we have a choice of two things, – turn to God from our sins, and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ his Son for forgiveness and cleansing, to go to heaven, or ignore this simple message and thus continue on the way to hell, which is eternal punishment from God.
God is holy and righteous, and vengeance belongs to him, but he is also loving and gracious, offering free pardon to all who will humble themselves and receive it. John’s gospel ch. 3:16,17 says “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
In Australia it needs to be acknowledged that despite the superficial rubbish that man has added to Christianity, it is the core message of Jesus Christ from the Bible that has been a good influence on this nation in the past. I firmly believe that not only Islam, but also atheistic communism will have the opposite effect. Has this communism been any less brutal and oppressive, Mr Brown? You have only to look at the modern history of Russia, China, and North Korea. Perhaps you could be more honest about the facts.
