Answers sort on the Eight Mile intersection

The Minister for Main Roads has been asked to provide details of any audits conducted into the safety of the Eight Mile intersection north of Warwick and the methodology used for the audits.
Member for the Southern Downs Lawrence Springborg put the question on notice to the Minister for Main Roads in State Parliament on Tuesday.
“Under Parliamentary rules, the Minister now has 28 days to provide this information,” Mr Springborg said.
“I have been concerned for some
time, particularly in light of a personal incident just after the upgrade of the intersection, and as a result of the significant number of personal
experiences  being exposed in local media coverage in the last week, that the real safety concerns of this intersection have not been properly recognised, recorded and addressed by the Bligh government,” he said.
“In light of the ongoing concerns, the community should be able to examine any safety audits that have been undertaken, and more importantly, they should be able to scrutinise the methodology which has been used to do them.
“I believe the community can only have confidence that their concerns have been fully addressed and that there are no serious ongoing safety issues, when they have absolute confidence in the methodology used to assess the safety of this intersection.”
