Much needed funds for Cancer Support Group

The Stanthorpe Cancer Support Group has been successful with their application for funding from Cancer Council Queensland Community Grants Program.
Ann Barry and Leanne Miller, a palliative nurse from Stanthorpe Hospital, attended the launch of Daffodil Day in Toowoomba recently when the successful recipients of the Community Grants Program were announced.
Of the 32 applications that were received, 29 met the criteria for funding and 11 applications were successful with only one from the Toowoomba region.
This funding will be used to purchase a “Hi-Rom 755” critical care bed for the Stanthorpe Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
The bed is considered the most efficient bed for patients suffering from cancer because it can give more comfort and quality of life when pain is often extreme, when nursing staff have to move patients.
The Stanthorpe Cancer Support Group would like to sincerely thank everyone who wrote letters of support for this funding and they look forward to the bed being delivered to the Stanthorpe Hospital in the near future.
