For many, merely the idea of standing up to speak publicly about any topic can send shivers down one’s spine, but for Stanthorpe State School’s Year 7 Lecturette Competition participants, this feat is just all in a day’s work it would seem.
Students Courtney Carter, Jessica Evans, Sophie Hilton and Melissa Botha all did themselves and their school very proud when they presented a range of highly informative, well researched and brilliantly presented lecturettes to an appreciative and discerning audience at the recent Granite Belt Year 7 Lecurette Final.
Coming away from this experience as the proud runner-up was Melissa Botha, after delivering her fantastic presentation on the topic “The Importance of Having Another Language” with real gusto.
Stanthorpe State School is proud to take part in such competitions, which provide great opportunities for students to not only develop excellent public speaking skills, but enhance their self confidence.
