A cowboy hospitalised with suspected head and spinal injuries after an incident at Stanthorpe Rodeo on Saturday night is reportedly in “good spirits”.

Bull rider Jack Watt was transported to Stanthorpe Hospital in a stable condition after falling from his bull in the rodeo arena a little before 9pm on 25 November.

Organisers took to social media the following day to confirm Watt was okay and in “good spirits”.

Chairman of the National Rodeo Association Jason Hall said Watt had suffered three fractured ribs and underwent surgery for a broken jaw on Monday.

“He’s done pretty well,” Mr Hall said.

“As he was coming down from the bull, his head crashed with the bull’s head.

“Then as he hit the ground, the bull stood on his ribs.”
