Community organisations across Southern Queensland are gearing up for positive change as they receive a significant boost from the federal government’s Volunteer Grants program.

With a total allocation of over $66,000, 23 groups from the Maranoa electorate are set to embark on projects aimed at fostering community well-being and support.

Among the organisations benefiting from the latest round of the program are the Warwick Redbacks AFL Club  ($3000), animal support service Southern Downs Ark ($5000), Clifton & District Amateur Swimming Association  ($2500), Inglewood Show Society Inc ($1500) and Stanthorpe Meals On Wheels Inc ($2500).

Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said all 23 of the successful community groups were worthy recipients of this year’s Volunteer Grants.

“Volunteers are the backbone of our Maranoa electorate, and these grants will go a long way to helping these organisations continue their life-changing work,” Mr Littleproud said.

“Our communities are a better place because of the good work these groups do, and it gives me great pride to have helped secure the funding to give these organisations a helping hand.

Littleproud encouraged an increased community engagement, urging locals to step forward and contribute their time and skills towards collective betterment.

“Volunteers make a major difference in our communities and some of our favourite events, as well as services we depend on, wouldn’t exist without volunteers,” Mr Littleproud said.

Volunteer Grants support the work of local community organisations by enabling the inclusion of vulnerable people and promoting awareness to increase participation in volunteering.
