Toby and Tammy Robinson have taken out the monthly Warwick East pairs day on Thursday

There was a full green of sixteen teams with the Robinsons leading the way while the runners-up were Phil Wagner and Barry Heffernan.

There were no social bowls on Friday night or Saturday afternoon as we were preparing for and hosting the Men’s District pairs competition, which were held on Saturday and Sunday.

Three Warwick East teams did well enough to make it to the quarter finals and one progressed to the semi-finals, but was able to progress further. The final will be held between two teams from The Summit and will be played at The Summit in the near future.

There will be social bowls again on tomorrow (Friday 1 March) night, with play starting at 6 pm. On Saturday (2 March) the club will hold their club-selected pairs competition getting under way at 10 am.

At the time of writing the draw had not been finalized, but by now it should be on Facebook. Finally, next Thursday (7 March) the monthly triples will take place, play starting at 9 am.

Consistency pays off for Girgenti

Len Girgenti has outplayed Peter Smith to win the delayed final of the 2023 Stanthorpe Bowls Consistency competition.

Girgenti played some good consistent bowls to win the contest quite comfortably by 156 points to 94 with Jack Bell marking the game.

Eighteen bowlers took to the green on Thursday night after a passing shower of rain interrupted play for around 15 minutes just after play commenced.

Results of the games are as follows: Viv Thouard’s team defeated Len Leigh’s team by 15 shots to 10. Jack Bell’s team defeated David Draper’s team by 14 shots to 11 and Len Girgenti’s team went down to John Lewis’s team 9 shots to 12.
