Over $1200 raised for local flood victims

Story: Rebecca Brown

Southern Downs residents continue their support for local flood victims, with more than $1200 raised at the recent Warwick Charity Markets and concert.

Organiser Virgil Brad-field said they had a terrific day, with hundreds of people wandering around the stalls and enjoying the performances by seven local acts.

“We were hoping for $1000. People just kept coming all the time. We were flat out all the time,” Mr Bradfield said.

Warwick resident Laura Doust said her Helene Street house had been flooded four times in 26 years; two of those floods were in the last few weeks.

“The last one really wiped me out; furniture, carpets and mattresses were all ruined,” Mrs Doust said.
“The floodwaters were about waist high,” she said.

Mrs Doust was grateful for the support she had been given as a result of the Warwick Charity Markets.
