New music festival heading Warwick’s way

An exciting new country music festival is planned for Warwick this month.
Local resident Norma O’Hara Murphy has dreamed about starting the Bony Mountain Music Festival for many years.
“What could be better, the children can run about, there’ll be plenty of good tucker, good music, good mates, and hopefully good weather,” she said.
The festival will start from 10am on Friday, September 16, with Walk Ups with Ally & Rocket, The Coads, and a big barbecue and welcome.
The official opening will be on Saturday, September 17, with performances by Warwick Pipe Thistle Band, Warwick Choral Society and Wheatvale School.
Tommy McKivor, Dusty Fraser, Ged & Trudy, Merv Maltman – Scottish Accordion, Chad Morgan, Norma O’Hara Murphy, Jeff Brown, Graham Rodger and special guest Tracey Coster will also perform.
Warwick Pie Shop, Monica’s Pancakes, an ice cream van and local Country Women’s Association (CWA) ladies will have food and refreshments available at the event.
There will be a Pirate Cave for the youngsters, buried treasure, treasure maps and much adventure! The famous pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow himself, might appear.
The festival will finish on Sunday, September 18.
A Day Pass will cost $25 or a Weekend Pass $60 with all school children free. Festival-goers are asked to bring your own chairs and to wear sensible shoes.
This will be an annual event, which will hopefully be able to support community groups and worthy causes in the Warwick district in the future.
Follow the Rainbow signs to Upper Wheatvale Road, Bony Mountain, to attend the festival.
